  • Overview

    Part-time temporary position where primary function is the daily care and maintenance of the LFB USA herd used to produce pharmaceutical products. Duties include basic animal husbandry, feeding, milking, cleaning of stalls and barns, and grounds maintenance.  These tasks must be carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Farm Practices (SFPs) and Work Instructions (WIs). Tasks must be accurately documented to maintain compliance with FDA mandated Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and USDA regulations.  Individual initiative is expected in the form of taking part in functional area focus groups, or accepting responsibility for accomplishing specific projects.  Some administrative duties may be assigned.


    • Feeding, cleaning of bars/pens, feeding of kids and monitor health and welfare of entire herd
    • Hoof trimming
    • Milking
    • Tattoo and transponder implantation
    • Assist in breeding and surgery associated tasks


    High school diploma plus previous experience in dairy farm or veterinary setting or 2-4 year degree in the Animal Sciences.

    Physical and Environmental Conditions:

    • Must be able to restrain a 150 pound goat
    • Must be able to observe animal physical attributes and record data both manually and via computer
    • Duties may require standing for an average of six hours per day
    • Must be able to read, understand and follow written procedures
    • Must be able to work in outdoor conditions encountered throughout the year including extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter
    • Must be able to work in spaces as narrow as two feet
    • Must be able to accurately record data by hand or on a computer in a timely manner
    • May be exposed to materials and chemicals that are potentially allergenic
